The semi-final positions were filled up with three Indian Pairs in Melbourne on Tuesday. Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal were trailing the Malaysian pair Aika Asman and Min Jie Teh 11-5 ,11-5.
The games were quite interesting as the competition was neck to neck. At first, Joshna Chinappa and Harinder Pal Sandhu defeated the Australian duo, a former world champion Rachael Grinham and Cameron Pilley in three close games in Pool A. There was such a close match that both the teams were evenly matched until the Indians at 7-7 won the game and the match.
After the break, The Indian pair touch downed the New Zealand’s pair of Cambell Grayson and Amanda Landers-Murphy in straight games. The Indian Pair was unbeaten with one match left against the current topper David Palmker and Donna Urquhart of Australia. That match decided the Pool Standing but both qualified for the Semi-Finals.
The mixed pair of Dipika and Saurav, at No.2 also won both their matches. Saurav showed an ennoble performance against the Colombian pair of Catalina Plalaez and Migul Angel Rodriguez. The second match was closed against the welsh pair of Jenny Haley and Joel Markin and India was invincible again against the current leader New Zealand. Both the pairs snatched up their places in Semi-Finals.
The Indian Pair of Josna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal had their last league match in doubles to play and they have showed a remarkable performance against the Malaysian Duo Of Aika Asman and Min Jie The. The Indians with all-win record was at the top of the pool and they made it to the last four , However , the men’s pair of Harinder and Ramit Tandon couldn’t win the matches. The team at last was with three losses overall and ranked 4th in the pool.

Mixed Doubles: Pool A : India 2 bt Australia 1 (Joshna Chinappa and Harinder Pal Sandhu bt Rachael Grinham and Cameron Pilley 9-11, 11-6, 11-9); India 2 bt New Zealand 2 (Joshna Chinappa and Harinder Pal Sandhu bt Cambell Grayson and Amanda Landers-Murphy 11-9, 11-5 )
