FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP 2017 – India’s First Appearence in World Cup

Finally India, hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 . And will also make its first appearence in FIFA World Cup. Apart from India, New Caledonia and Niger will be making there first appearence in FIFA World Cup.

24 Teams has been qualified for this tournment. Nigeria, being the previous FIFA World cup winners failed to qualify for this big tournment. After Switzerland, Nigeria has become another team who fail to qualify for FIFA World Cup after winning World Cup Title. Hence, It wont be playing world cup this year.

There are going to be six groups (24 teams) with 4 teams in group stages.

INDIA, USA, COLOMBIA, GHANA

Group B

PARAGUAY, MALI, NEW ZEALAND, TURKEY

Group C

IRAN, GUINEA, GERMANY, COSTA RICA

Group D

KOREA DPR, NIGER, BRAZIL, SPAIN

Group E 

HONDURAS, JAPAN, NEW CALADONIA, FRANCE

Group F

IRAQ, MEXICO, CHILE, ENGLAND

India being the hosting country has selected six venues for the FIFA WORLD CUP 2017.

First of all, Official hosting cities for FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP are Kochi, Goa, Navi Mumbai, Guwahati, Delhi and Kolkata.

1. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium situated in Kochi is a multipurpose stadium. This stadium was inaugrated in 1996. And was later renovated in 2008. The capacity of this stadium is almost 75,000 but due to FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP 2017 it is limited till 41,748. Regarding capacity, Jawaharlal Stadium is the third largest stadium in India. Its a home ground for Kerala Blasters in Indian Super League since 2014.

2. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium situated in Margo,Goa  is also a multipurpose stadium. It is used to host Football and Cricket International Matches. While this stadium was inaugrated in 1989 the capacity of this stadium is almost 19,000. Its a home ground for FC GOA in Indian Super League. Also Stadium has certain facilities arranged due to FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP 2017. Roof top covering 100 percent of the seats of the stadium. Seats are very comfortable and this stadium carries the record.

3. D.Y Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai

The DY Patil Sports Stadium is also another Multi purpose stadium. Also,the stadium was inaugrated in 2008. The stadium is not as old as the ones in Goa and Kochi. Also, It has a capacity of almost 56,000 seats. And regarding  capacity, DY Patil Sports stadium is the Eighth largest Stadium in India. Now, the ground will be hosting  FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP 2017. It is home ground for FC MUMBAI in Indian Super League.

4. Jawaharlal Stadium, New Delhi

FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP 2017- Fourth Venue. It is the National Stadium of India. And after the First Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru the stadium was named. The capacity of this stadium is almost 60,000. Also this stadium conducts National Football matches and is also used by National Athletics.

5. Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata

Another Multipurpose stadium located in West Bengal. And the capacity of the stadium is almost 85,000 . It is also the largest stadium in India by capacity. Stadium was inaugrated in 1984. Indain Football Association is the owner of this stadium. So, stadium has switched back to natural grass for the prparation of FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP 2017.

6. Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati

 

This stadium is also another multipurpose stadium. And also named as Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati. Athletics also use this ground. Almost 35,000 is the capacity of this stadium. Hence, as a result it has less capacity than rest stadiums. Because of capacity. And now in addition it is completely ready for hosting 2017 FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP.

Because of this tournment, it seems like this tournment will surely raise the stand of football in India much as cricket probably.
