KL RAHUL could very well have been KL Rohan. His father, KN Lokesh, a professor at the National Institute of Technology in Karnataka, was a big fan of Sunil Gavaskar and wanted to name him after the original master blaster’s son. But he mistook Rohan Gavaskar’s first name as Rahul.

“Rahul started playing cricket at the age of 11. He was good at both studies and cricket,” Rahul’s father Dr.Lokesh “He played volleyball, hockey, football at school, but cricket was his priority.”

KL Rahul moved to Bangalore at the age of 17 and joined Bangalore United Cricket Club, whom his idol Rahul Dravid also played for and later in the first division league with Vultures Cricket Club. He has represented Karnataka at the Under – 13, 15, 17, 19 and 23 levels before featuring for the Ranji team.

Kl Rahul had taken a while to set up himself as a top of the line cricketer, he delighted in an achievement 2013-14 season, establishing the framework for Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy triumph with 1033 runs, which included three centuries, three nineties, and a Man-of-the-Match performance in the final. He is the principal batsmen to score a triple hundred for Karnataka.

Subsequent to getting a call structure national group for his introduction against Australia at MCG. KL Rahul played a rash shots down the request in that match and can’t use the opportunity, yet on account of his 110 runs an opener at SCG. After that he had accepted the opportunity with both hands by scoring hundreds of years against Sri Lanka and West Indies in tests and also his century against Zimbabwe in his odi debut.

But however he has changed his batting style with more aggressive approach. Where we have seen him as a opener of RCB in IPL under Kohli’s captaincy. KL rahul is enjoying his current great form by piling of more runs in national team after a fruitful IPL season.
Despite his immense promise Rahul has shown a worrying tendency to get out early. This is evidenced by the fact that he scored three centuries in his first six tests, but got to double figures only once apart from those innings. He is also an excellent close-in fielder and more than handy wicket-keeper, Rahul is definitely a long-term prospect for India who is capable of converting 50’s into big scores if he can sort out his inconsistencies.
